localraid.com ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile-first web application that helps you find local products, restaurants, and professional services near you. We are a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran Owned business. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Account information — email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider) when you create an account.
• Business listings — when you list a business or restaurant, we collect the details you submit (business name, trade or cuisine, contact name, email, phone, website, address, city, state, ZIP code, service radius, description, and logo), and any license or insurance documents you upload for verification.
• Search queries — the product, eatery, or service keywords you search for, and the location (ZIP code or GPS coordinates) you search around.

Information collected automatically:

• Location data — approximate latitude and longitude, derived from your device GPS or from a ZIP code you enter, used solely to find nearby results for the current search.
• Device and usage data — basic analytics events (such as which screens you open and buttons you tap) and standard request metadata (IP address, browser type). We do not use this to build a personal profile.
• Local storage — your saved favorites and recent searches are stored locally in your browser/device. They are not transmitted to our servers and are cleared when you clear your browser data.

2. Device Permissions We Request

• Location (Geolocation API) — requested only when you tap a "use my location" control. We use your approximate location to run a nearby search; the coordinates are used for that search and are not stored on our servers. You can deny this permission and enter a ZIP code instead.
• Camera (for visual product scanning) — requested only when you open the in-app product scanner. The camera stream is processed on your device to recognize a product barcode/image and is not recorded or uploaded.
• Local storage — used to remember your favorites, recent searches, and theme preference on this device.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device or browser settings; the app will continue to work with reduced features (for example, manual ZIP entry instead of GPS).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To run your searches and display nearby stores, restaurants, and professionals.
• To publish and verify business and restaurant listings you submit, and to process subscription payments for featured/elite tiers.
• To remember your favorites and recent searches on your device.
• To improve search quality, fix bugs, and prevent abuse of our public search endpoints.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to operate the service:

• Map and place data — searches use OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and Overpass) public services, which receive the area coordinates of your search.
• Payments — subscription payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe / Base44 Payments). We receive a confirmation of payment status, not your full card details.
• Service providers — hosting, database, and authentication providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data-protection terms.
• Legal — we may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account and listing data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen, which removes your personal data from our systems (business listings you own may be retained or deactivated as needed for marketplace integrity). Search analytics are retained in aggregate, de-identified form.

6. Your Choices

• Use the app without an account — search works anonymously.
• Deny or revoke location and camera permissions at any time.
• Clear your saved favorites and recent searches by clearing your browser storage.
• Delete your account from the Account screen, or contact us to request deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transit, access controls, and row-level security that limits each user to their own records. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, however.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
